Part of Bandai's Meisho Movie Realization series, which reimagines Star Wars characters through the lens of feudal Japan. This is the flagship figure of the line, recasting Darth Vader as a samurai taisho (general), with the Imperial insignia worked into the helmet crest and armour in traditional Japanese motifs.

- Lightsaber reworked as a katana, with two interchangeable blade parts (extended and sheathed)
- Three sets of interchangeable hands
Design arrangement by Takayuki Takeya with sculpting by Junichi Taniguchi, this was the first release in the Meisho Movie Realization Star Wars line and the figure the later Ashigaru, Sandtrooper, and Taikoyaku stormtroopers were designed to stand alongside.
