The Emperor's Hand turned smuggler, Mara Jade was introduced in Timothy Zahn's Heir to the Empire in 1991 and quickly became one of the most iconic Expanded Universe characters. This figure draws from her appearance in the graphic novel adaptation, depicting Jade during her smuggling days when she unexpectedly crosses paths with Luke Skywalker. Part of the 1998 Expanded Universe sub-line where Kenner stepped outside the films for the first time, with each figure packaged with a cardboard 3-D diorama.

The sculpt features permanently attached goggles on her head — a design choice that became a defining visual for this version of the character. For 1998, the likeness holds up well and has been favourably compared to later attempts at the character. Standard six points of POTF2 articulation. Mara Jade would see updated figures in the 2007 Comic Packs and eventually the Black Series.
