Darth Vader Rumph Tankard - California Originals
During the late 70's, Jim Rumph was a ceramic sculptor known for creating wacky creature designs. One of the first licenses for Star Wars merchandise went to his company, California Originals. They made 3 tankard style mugs; Ben, Vader and Chewbacca.
These are all hand-painted and fired in small batches. Jim Rumph was notorious for his quality control, often destroying dozens of pieces he wasn't happy with.
These mugs were also bootlegged for ceramics classes in the 1970's, but the bootleg ones don't have the TM info on the bottom.
